An excited and nervous Gamble is talking about the AFLW, with her Western Bulldogs to take on Fremantle on Saturday as the competition launches.

“It is a bit of a surreal feeling, as suddenly it’s now only days away,’’ the Burnie Dockers premiership player told Fairfax Media.

“It has been a real quick pre-season, but I just can’t wait to get stuck into it.”

The 19-year-old forwardexpected to encounter a muchquicker and more physical stylethan what she is used to in the TWL.

“I really want to make this first team this weekend and I feel confident I have done everything I can,’’ she said.

“It has been a big step up, as it is really at a high intensity, which I think I have embraced quite well.

“It was good to get out there against the Magpies (in last week’s practice match)and showed the coaching staff what I can do (with her contested marking).”

With just 16-a-side, the Wynyard product’s role in the front-half is set to more of a floating role, as well as spending time in the ruck.

Like fellow Docker Emma Humphries, Gamble admitted coming up against fellow TWL premiership teammates would be “weird”.

Brittany Gibson is also part of the league as aBrisbane Lion.

“I will definitelytry to rough them up a bit,’’ she laughed.

“But once you are out there on the field, you are just chasing the ball and you don’t really think about anything else.

“I don’t really take any notice of my opponent, as I just focus on my team and our structures.”

Gamble was confident about the Bulldogs’ prospects under the leadership of Katie Brennan.

“Everyone is an unknown, butwe have really gelled together really well and you will see that in round 1.

“With Katie leading our group the premiership is something I think we can achieve.”

The Bulldogs will play Fremantle at VU Whitten Oval from 7.40pm.
